WHO WE ARE & WHAT WE DO ...

WHO ARE WE ? Alwoodley Art Group is a mixed group of enthusiastic amateur and semi professional artists who meet every Thursday evening at The Alwoodley Community Hall in Alwoodley, North Leeds to pursue their love of drawing, painting, etc.

WHAT DO WE DO ? We paint and draw in a wide variety of styles. We hold regular Workshop evenings and days and we enjoy demonstrations by professional artists throughout the year.

OUR SPRING EXHIBITION IS NOW VIRTUAL!!

The Spring 2020 Exhibition should have taken place on May 9th & 10th but of course the coronavirus crisis has meant that the exhibition was cancelled- and our regular meetings have been postponed until the situation improves enough for us to get together again on Thursday evenings.
As soon as this happens we will be announcing that meetings are 'on' again - & we hope we will be able to welcome new members too...

In the meantime we have introduced a new page to our website showing a selection of new work that some of our members would have exhibited at the Spring show! Just click on the banner at the top of this page to view the new images.

MEMBER'S NEW WORK

From time to time we feature work that a member is particularly proud of. The triptych shown above is by Richard Stead and he calls it : "Climate-change: the expulsion of the emitters" (with acknowledgements to Pieter Breugel). It's 1.5m by 0.5m and Richard produced it using fineliner, watercolour and marker-pen.

OUR THURSDAY EVENING PRACTICAL MEETINGS ARE STARTING AGAIN

I am pleased to be able to announce that we will be meeting again on Thursday evenings STARTING ON 3rd SEPTEMBER

I look forward to welcoming those existing members who want to resume our practical meetings as well as potential new members.

Social distancing & sanitising rules will have to be observed and face coverings should be worn until further notice

Hand gel, wipes, etc will be provided but refreshments will not be offered although members are welcome to bring their own.

Unfortunately because of the coronavirus situation we have had to take the decision to cancel all demonstrations and workshops by visiting artists planned until the end of 2020.

We hope to be able to resume them as soon as possible for 2021.
